Taiwan Visitor Services

Sunset at Foguanshan Temple

Imagine an island about the size of Switzerland. Add more than 200 mountain peaks over 3,000 meters, with the tallest topping out at more than 4,000 (more than 13,000 feet). Try to imagine more than 23,000,000 people crowded into its coastal areas. A place where there is without a doubt the world's best Chinese food and the repository of some of China's greatest artistic treasures. What used to be called "Ilha Formosa"...the beautiful island...is now simply Taiwan.

I have lived on Taiwan for more than 15 years and have been lucky enough to have seen almost all of the main island, along with Penghu and Lanyu islands. The overwhelming majority of Taiwanese are unrelentingly kind, generous, and welcoming to foreign visitors. Traveling here is always exciting, exhilarating and rewarding. From boardrooms of major corporations to factories turning out the latest computer chips to remote mountain villages, Taiwan has a lot of everything.

It can also be extremely confusing if you don't know the language or terrain. I offer local guide services for people visiting or moving to the island, and you can hire me by the half or whole day or by the week. We also offer translation services. For more information call me in Taipei at 0988-010-944 or email joe_rupp@hotmail.com and I will help make your visit to Taiwan one you will never forget.

Welcome to Ilha Formosa!
